The Dive
Project : "DIVE"
I would like to do a piece in Animation Master. I want to keep it very simple. Very visual, little dialog, if any, mostly sound effects or music. Aardman (Wallace and Grommit) style, lots of exaggeration, cartoonish,...
setting : Olympic style diving competion opening :
Show judges all flipping their score cards, 10, 9.6, 9.4,...a chance for a comedic group, they might even be fish, anything. Cheers from the crowd. Cut to main character who is next to dive. (cheezy, overconfident, stereotypical sand kicker) Maybe give his teeth that flash sparkle, strutting to the ladder, chest out, stomach in, chin high. He climbs the ladder, and climbs, and climbs. Birds fly by as well as clouds to exaggerate the height. (hear the wind and birds quack) Cut to a shot, a look down showing the earth as ball, only the colleseum on the earth, with a ladder rising up through the clouds. A run, spring (boing), dive (add lots of exxaggeration as he does all the flips, even posing inbetween stunts to flash his smile.) All of a sudden he starts falling in wild circles (like the airplane toy that attaches by string to the ceiling) Show the terror on his face, wild eyes, arm flaying. Have the view shrink toward the center as if pulling back from a TV reavealing that you are looking through a camera monitor and you are on a movie set gone wrong with all kinds of chances for comedic chaos. A fan that was blowing upwards to simulate the actors fall gets knocked over and the backdrop roll of clouds that someone had been cranking gets blown and the sheets start rolling, gaffer light rigs, chairs, other set props get knocked and dropped by other characters falling over trying to fix the problems and help the actor...Fade to black (maybe have an impression of the actor hit into the blacked out screen.
The end.
OK, I am not a professional writer! I do invite any writers or storyboarders, or anyone for that matter, to add their feedback/input, totally rewrite it if you want, draw up a few boards, anything that you think might improve the project idea. I'm open and Oh, vote for me;)
