: : Synosis of Rei's Life : :
+Rei I
Ayanami Rei is born, a clone of Ikari Yui and Ikari Gendo. That's why she resembles Yui so much, but acts like Gendo. She was created by Commander Ikari, and he takes care of her. Rei I didn't live very long, for she insulted Dr.Akagi with Commander Ikari's words about her, Dr.Akagi asked if Rei lost her way and if she needed help to find her way back. Rei replied 'No, old hag'. Dr.Akagi was furious when Rei told her that Commander Ikari calls her an 'Old Hag' and useless. Dr.Akagi was the creator of the Magi, and she strangeled Rei I and jumped of the edge to her death.

Rei was cloned again as Rei I I. Rei was able to take the Synchronize test with her EVA 00, but her EVA went berserk! It caused her to get servere injuries, Commander Ikari pried open the entry plug with his hands, which caused his hands to get perminit marks.EVA 00 was damaged and was repared now in a blue color, instead of all black like before.Rei was being treated, but she was asked to pilot EVA 01 to battle the first Angel, she wasn't fully recovered though, Ikari Shinji changed his mind to pilot his EVA 01, as the second child. Later on, she teamed up with Shinji to defeat another Angel, she protected Shinji but caused her to get injured. Ikari Shinji with tears in his eyes pried open the entry plug, like Commander Ikari did previously, and he was relieved to see Rei still alive, Rei thought that Shinji was the Commander for a second. She didn't know what to say or do at the moment, Shinji suggested that she should smile, and she did, this one of the few emotions Rei shows in the series. In another battle Rei risked her life to save Shinji from a dangerous Angel, and her last words were 'I want to unite with Shinji-Kun..'.

The final clone of Ayanami Rei, she was in the bed with bandages on her. Shinji was glad to see her alive, and thanked her for saving him, she said 'I don't know. I think I'm the third'. Rei I I I confronts her other selves in a dream, and she doesn't mind being alone, and would rather die to nothingness than to continue on, but he still needs her.. 'he' meaning Commander Ikari, she says she used to think she couldn't wait till that day when he would abandon her, but now..she fears it.

: : Deeper Thoughts : :
Ayanami Rei, is she real? Do you consider a clone to be real? How do you determind what is real? You say what your five senses can determine conciously is real, therefore Rei is real just like you and me, but yet she isn't. Ayanami Rei is a clone, but does it mean she is not human? What is human? An evolved mammal who has created technology, and also has created Rei? Therefore she is created by man, she is not human, but she has a soul like you and me, her feelings are the same, but she has difficulty expressing them, because she wasn't brought like we were. She was created for combat, and that's her purpose to fight with the help of her Eva Unit 00. Some say Rei doesn't show any emotions, this is very untrue, Rei II shed tears in a battle and discovered she wanted to become one with Ikari-Kun, thus she sacrifices her own life for Shinji Ikari. What makes Rei so heartless sometimes? She was born in a decrepet room in Nerv H.Q with only Gendo Ikari around her most of the time, Gendo isn't the most heartful of people, so the impressions of Gendo and her room made an imprint in her soul, she closed her soul for battle. Shinji Ikari tried to open her soul by talking to her, and suggesting she smiles, thus Rei felt Shinji cared about her and not just her fighting skills. My thoughts about Shinji and Rei, is I'm sure they are just really great friends, because Shinji I think has more feelings for Asuka (whether good or bad that's up to you..) I've seen End Of Eva, so go see it yourself and you'll found out. In conclusion, Rei's mysterious ways, and closed soul, aren't all what she's about, when she opens up her soul she's really human like you and me.

Rei doesn't get along with Asuka at all and vice versa. She blushes around Shinji, and Zor-Chan and I would have to agree likes him ^-^ She appears in eps: 1, 3, 5, 6, 8 - 14, 17, 21, 22 - 26, plus all the movies. She's a vegetarian. Rei means Zero or Spirit in Japanese. She's a very silent and emotionless 14 year old, but she does show some emotions during the series.
