The New Jedi Order :
An E-Book by Troy Denning
Review by Don J'Bar
This is the second electronic book that I have and read, and I must say that it is far better than the first. Troy Denning knows how to weave a spellbinding tale, and we are once again taken into that galaxy far, far away that we know so well.
This book fills in a few loose ends between Rebirth by Greg Keyes and Star by Star, also by Denning. We see the reemergence of the love between Leia and Han, kindled in part by the recent injury Leia sustained at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong, Warmaster Tsavong Lah in particular. Han realizes that he has made a mistake in his grief over the death of Chewbacca and vows to not let anything come between him and Leia again.
While in the hospital recovering from her injuries, Leia is attacked by clandestine members of the Peace Brigade. Han, with the help of some unknown Jedi, help her to escape....and in the process, discover that a certain galactic Council member is behind the plot to have Leia killed. They head off to Coruscant, with a plan to expose the perpetrator of these crimes....
This e-book does a good job of tying up the time period after Leia's injury to her leg and the events of the Yuuhan Vong march towards the core. The book lacks the depth of character development and plot that is seen within the rest of the novels. However, it also does a good job of introducing some new Jedi that will play a crucial role in the war with the Yuuzhan Vong.
All in all, the book is kind of ho-hum, but it helps pass the time while waiting for the next installment in this great Galactic adventure. I can only give 2 of 4 Reb's for this one folks.
Just my two credits, Don
