Grand Admiral Thrawn

Thrawn. It is a name that strikes fear into the very heart of New Republic citizens. For years, little information was known about this brilliant leader. After his appearance in the Unknown Regions, Grand Admiral Thrawn, or Mitth'raw'nuruodo as he is known in his native language, proved that he was by far one of the smartest tacticians ever to inhabit the galaxy.

The Unknown Regions are the areas of space far away from the Coruscant and the Core Worlds. Areas that still haven't been properly been explored, analyzed, and recorded. It is from these regions that Thrawn originated. For some time, Thrawn's species and homeworld were known only to the Emperor. When Luke and Mara Jade encountered Admiral Parck some thirty years after the fall of the Empire, they learned that Thrawn was a Chiss. The Chiss are a species of red-eyed, blue skinned aliens who are extremely intelligent. The location of Chiss remains a mystery.

For many years, this was the story of Thrawn's discovery. The discovery was made by an Imperial Captain by the name of Captain Voss Parck in the early years of Palpatine's rule. Parck captained a Victory-Class Star Destroyer in the Outer Rim. According to what little data from that time period remains, Parck discovered Thrawn on a deserted world while on routine patrol. He brought Thrawn back with him and presented him to the Emperor. The name Thrawn was used by taking the middle of his name, Mitth'rawn'nuruodo. Thrawn was easier for the Imperial court to pronounce.
