Xavier did not like to pry into his students lives however it was
becoming
distressingly clear that he would have to. Scott and Jean had yet to deal
with their new
relationship problems choosing to ignore them instead. He had always hoped
that the two
might one day marry and now that seemed impossible. Rubbing his forehead, he
wondered how things had gone so wrong.

Of course, he already knew the answer to that. It had all started going
horribly
wrong when they had brought Logan in to their fold. Almost immediately, he
had known
that it was a mistake. Sighing he reached for the phone. Now he was being
forced to
bring the man back. Dialing the long and complicated number, he tried
thinking of a
tactical way to insist that Logan come home.

He had been in touch with Logan off and on for the past eleven months and
knew
that any leads the man had been following had panned out months before. Yet,
Logan had
chosen to stay away. Listening to the ringing of the phone, he contemplated
hanging up.
After all bringing Logan back was bound to make things harder instead of
easier.
However, he knew that Rogue would need Logan to help her with her knew
discovery.

It should have been glaringly obvious that this sort of thing would
happen
eventually. Of course, no one had known that Rogue's mutation extended itself
toward all
living things. If only he could have anticipated it.

Pushing the pointless thought away he heard the line click as it was
picked up.

"Thiz bedder be gud Bub r' I'm gunna trac' ya down." The voice on the end
of
the line growled slurringly.

"Logan?" Xavier knew it was he but could not help asking anyhow.

"Wuz up Chuck?" Xavier cringed. Why did the man have to tag him with such
a
horrid name.

"Something has happened and you need to come home." That's it Xavier keep
it
simple. No need to get into details.

"Wuz happen' tha ya and the other X-dweebs can' handl' on yer own?" Logan
slurred slightly.

"Logan are you drunk?" Xavier inquired disapprovingly.

"Kinda. Iz none o' yer bidness anyway's Chuck. I'm a Big Boy I dress
myself an'
ever' thin'. So's wuz a lil' drinky here an' there. Now tell me wot happen'
dammit."
Logan growled slurring into the phone.

Xavier sighed. "Rogue has just found out that she can kill plants with
her bare
touch. She was helping Ororo water her plants and Ororo convinced her to
touch one of
the plants without her gloves on. That is when she found out."

"What!" Logan yelled. "How the hell did that happen? What was she doing
without her gloves on anyhow? I thought ya guy's were supposed to be watchin'
her so's
this kinda thing wouldn't happen."

Xavier pulled the phone away from his ear wincing. "Logan please calm
yourself.
I will explain everything once you get here. Rogue needs you and I suggest
you get
yourself here as fast as you can." He hung up without waiting for Logan's
response.

If he were being entirely honest with himself, he would acknowledge that
he had
more than just Rogue's welfare in mind for bringing Logan back. For that
matter he could
also be truthful and let himself feel some resentment toward the girl.

He knew that it was not her fault that she was causing problems. One
could not
fault a person for there genetic make-up. However, she was also in a manner
adding to
Scott and Jean's problems. He had to admit that he was inadvertently blaming
Rogue as
much as Logan for his two favorite students current problems.

There was something going on between Rogue and Scott he just did not know
what it was. They both had an air of turbulence around them whenever they
were around
each other. Xavier could not be certain that Scott was even aware that there
was anything
going on.

Despite Scott's intelligence, he could be quite thickheaded when it came
to his
own feelings. When he had first arrived at the school and met Jean, it had
taken him
months to realize that he had instantly fallen in love with her. Now Xavier
was afraid that
Scott was feeling an attraction towards Rogue.

If that were so than things could take a very disastrous turn. As if in
answer to his
thoughts, he felt the level of tension in the Mansion increase. Focusing on
the source, he
found Jean, Scott, and Rogue in the Garage. There was a great deal of tension
and anger
there.

Xavier wanted to know what was going on but could not allow himself the
luxury
of a mental probe. In his current mental state, he could not control how far
he would go.
He would be very much the hypocrite if he were to break his own rule of
mental privacy.

Yet, a little mental nudge to break up the impending fight was not out of
the
question. After all, he consoled himself he was doing it for their own good.
Focusing he
nudged Jean making her want to take her fight with Rogue elsewhere. Feeling
her mind
accept his nudge he focused on Rogue putting a little more force on this one
so that she
would accept without argument. Lastly, he turned his focus on Scott and just
had him be
silent.

He followed Jean and Rogue down the hallway to the Study. Once they were
inside, he sent his focus back to Scott. What to do he wondered. Well he felt
more in
control now that he had indulged in a little mental meddling. So, he made a
pass over
Scott's surface thoughts and was plunged into a quagmire of contradictory
thoughts.

It was like being caught in a tornado that had just sucked up a patch of
quicksand.
Xavier felt as if he were being twisted up in the sticky mess of Scott's
mind. He retracted
his mental probe in desperation. It took more strength then he thought it
would and he
was chagrined to find he was developing a headache.

He should have just minded his own business. Nothing good ever came from
meddling he told himself in self-reproach. However, he could not help himself
from
reaching out to Scott once more.

This time he did not probe he just sent his thoughts.*Scott* he sent
interrupting
the poor boys musings.

*Yes, Professor. Is there a problem?* Xavier almost chocked on his
tongue. Was
the boy completely daft? He found himself chuckling suddenly as he
contemplated the
ridiculousness of the situation.

*You could say that yes.* He could not keep his amusement out of his
mental
voice. *You are projecting a great deal of anxiety and confusion. (That at
least was the
truth he thought privately.) *Would you like to talk about it? If not would
you be so kind
as to keep it down. I am starting to get a headache.* The mirth overflowed in
his mental
voice this time. There was no reason Scott had to know the real reason he was
getting a
headache he thought.

*I think maybe I would like to talk.* Scott responded.

*I am in the Library. I will wait for your arrival.* Xavier pulled away
from
Scott's mind severing the connection.

He waited for Scott to make his way down the hall to the Library. He felt
Jean's
thoughts, feeling her urge to flee the Study he nudged her once more so that
she would
not see Scott and stop him to talk. Those two did not need to fight about
this right now.
He sensed Scott was at the door when Rogue came out of the Study again he
nudged
making her go to her room and cool off.

Oh, he was becoming a naughty boy. If only Eric could see all the
meddling, he
was up to. Eric would probably just laugh and say it was not nearly enough.
Xavier was
still chuckling silently over that when Scott came in. Carefully schooling
his features, he
turned toward the younger man knowing that his face showed nothing.

"I am glad you decided to talk with me Scott." Xavier spoke quietly.

"I know you will not pass judgment on me for what I am feeling." Scott
said
simply.

Xavier said nothing for there was nothing to say. He motioned Scott
towards an
empty chair next to himself. Then he just listened as Scott told him all
about the events
that had happened to make his mind so turbulent.

An hour into the conversation if it could really be called such since he
was not
really adding anything to make it a conversation. He felt his mind wander. He
touched on
Rogue's mind feeling her need for emotional release. Xavier felt suddenly
ashamed at
himself. He really could not feel any resentment toward her and not feel like
a jerk.

He supposed that what he really felt toward her was more centered on her
connection to Eric. He was more than a little afraid that she knew that he
and Eric had
once been more than just friends. One day when she could bring herself to
sift through
memories of the three men in her head she would come across those memories
Eric had
of there time together as Lovers.

He was not ashamed of being Eric's lover. No, he was just afraid that his
students
would not trust him to make the right decisions when it came to his former
Lover.
Moreover, they would be right to not trust him. His love for Eric had colored
his
judgment in the incident with Rogue and the whole situation leading up to it.

He had thought that he knew Eric so well. Yet, he had not known that Eric
would
go to such lengths to achieve his goal. The Eric he had known the one he
loved would
never have even contemplated going to such lengths.

He was pulled away from his thoughts when Scott suddenly stood up and
thanked
him. Xavier watched him bemused to find that Scott had thought he had been
any help.
He had not even heard half of what the boy had said after all.

After Scott left, he felt the need to search Jean out. He found her
asleep by the
lake. He touched upon her mind and found her dreaming about her conversation
with
Rogue. He was surprised to find that Jean had tried to influence the young
girls mind.
Jean knew his feelings on influencing people's minds what had she been
thinking.

He pulled away from her mind suddenly feeling like a complete hypocrite
what
had he been doing all day but doing just that. What had he been thinking? He
left her
there and sent his mind out searching for Logan. He found him much closer
than he
thought he would be. Logan was making very good time. His mind glanced off of
the
other man's and he felt his senses expand as his mind merged with Logan's for
a second.

It was a heady feeling and he did not know how Logan could go through
life
feeling everything with that kind of sharpness. He came back to himself with
a shudder.
Shaking himself, he decided to go to bed. He knew that the real problems
would come to
life the next morning.

He was awoken some time later when he felt Jean's misery. Searching her
out, he
found her in the Study crying her heart out. He nudged her making her fall
into a deep
restful sleep. Yet, she still moaned and whimpered. He felt Logan close by
and waited for
the other man to enter the room.

Logan was thinking such dark thoughts that Xavier shied away from
contact with
his mind. After his earlier close call with Scott, he did not need a repeat
performance.
Logan just watched Jean then left.

Xavier knew if he did not calm Logan down he would not be able to get
anymore
sleep that night. *Logan?* He inquired startling the other man.

*What!* Logan thought back at him with enough force to reawaken his
headache.

Xavier caught one of Logan's stray thoughts and winced at the gruesome
imagery. *If indeed you wish to maim Scott in the morning do you not think
you had
better get some sleep.* He knew he sounded tired but he was damn it!

*Mind yer own damn business Chuck. I'll stay up as long as I want ta."
Logan
thought adding a surprisingly forceful mental growl.

Xavier could not help but chuckle. *Logan I must admit I was asking you
to sleep
more for my own benefit. You are thinking so fiercely that you are
projecting. I have had
quite a long day and even if you do not need the sleep, I do. So won't you
please get to
sleep.* He sighed wondering if the other man would listen or not.

*Yeh sure Chuck. I'll get ta sleep. But I'm gonna be sleepin' in Marie's
room.*
Xavier's eyebrow rose on his forehead at that.

*I trust you will be sleeping on the floor or a chair Logan.* He sent an
image of
his eyebrow's whereabouts.

*Yeh Chuck I'll be sleepin' in a chair. I'm not stupid.* Well Xavier was
not
going to debate that fact right now.

He followed Logan's progress to Rogue's room and felt the other man
settle in
one of the little chairs that was all the room had. He felt Logan's
discomfort and could
not stop himself from meddling on final time. He nudged Logan to sleep.

Now maybe he could get some sleep himself. He was not looking forward to
facing the morning.

I know, I know nudging is not the appropriate saying but that's what I'm
calling it
so there. :oP' I tried to make the Prof. let loose a little more but he
wouldn't let me make
him a total hypocrite so I compromised a little 'kay. Just one more folks
then I'm done
with this day and on to the next. And no, it's not going to be from every
characters POV
thank-god.
BUH-BYE for now.
