Band's Bio
Russell Crowe (lead vocals, guitar) and his long time friend Dean Cochran (guitar) have been together making music since 1984. For many years that they have been together, they didn't have an official name for the band. They did aquire the name Roman Antix, ironically enough but that didn't seem to fit the style that they
have when writing their music, during that time period. Of course one should never judge someone's music based on the name of the band. It took Russell and Dean approximately 10 years to come up with the name fittingly enough 30 Odd Foot of Grunts. Their style of music is a mixture of alternative rock, country, blues, and pop.
Russell Crowe has had his share of being a rocker since his early teen years making a name for himself as Russ le Roq. He has recorded "I wanna be like Marlon Brando", "Fire", "St Kilda", "Pier 13", "It hurts so bad", "So you made it now", "Shatter glass (You broke my heart) and "Never let you slide" on Ode Records (BMG records), unfortunately these songs didn't do as well on the charts as he would have hoped. He also starred in the musical production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Grease. Of course we all know how his acting career has taken a different direction compared to his early career as a musician (like night and day).
Dean Cochran's day job mainly is of being a true humanitarian. He pours his heart into helping those less fortunate than he, working for charities. The song "Legend of Barry Kable" tells the story of one man's struggle with his life and another whose desperate attempt in trying to alleviate the everyday pressures that life threw in Barry's face. "This man has a heart of gold," Russell exclaims kissing the top of Dean's head on stage at the August 18th TOFOG show this year, letting 2200 people in the audience know that Dean has devoted his life in reaching out to those who are in need of a helping hand.
Garth Adam's (bassist) day job consists of being a stock broker, and Dave Kelly's (drummer) is being an owner of a video editing studio. He also plays classic guitar, keyboards, and bass guitar. Two new members added these past couple of years are Dave Wilkins (guitar, vocals, tambourine) and Stewart Kirwan (vocals, trumpet). Both who are extraordinarily talented individuals with the instruments that they play. They both come from other musical bands and have been warranted by front man Russell to come and add their talents to TOFOG. Dave W. is also in a successful band called Utopian Babies created in 1995, in which he plays guitar and sings lead. He is currently working on a new album of his own!!!! Stewart sings lead vocals in a band called Cracksquad which was formed in 1998.

These guys add a genuine raw rock 'n roll sound to the music that they produce in the studios. While their day jobs consist of the everyday normal activities, it is in the studio and on stage that they illuminate, giving their fans a taste of what music is all about with stories that people can relate to and attribute to their lives. It makes them one of the most unique bands around today.
